Reports to the President

Ford Construction Company Inc., is a heavy civil engineering general contractor seeking a Safety Director. This is a full time position. Compensation is based on qualifications with generous benefits.

Job Description:

Responsible for ensuring employee and equipment safety and compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations including OSHA, MSHA, and USDOT.

  • Maintain Injury and Illness Prevention Plan
  • Maintain SDS files and train employees as required on hazards
  • Reviews owner safety programs and prepares a site specific safety plans
  • JSA hazard identification and communicate these hazards to jobsite personnel providing assistance where required
  • Conduct jobsite safety inspection and prepare reports, as needed
  • Trains, supports, and enforces jobsite safety
  • Implement immediate corrective actions when safety program is not in compliance
  • Maintain all personal protective equipment, job safety materials and first aid supplies
  • Oversee USDOT/DMV compliance
  • Manages Workers Compensation process
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses filing reports as required
  • Manages all equipment and employee certificates
  • Manages all aspects of environmental
  • CHST, CSP preferred
  • Experience in field operation including excavation, trenching, site grading, aggregate plants, hazardous and environmental clean up
  • Train The Trainer certifications in First Air/CPR, Competent Person, and Forklift
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations
  • Able to work outside, maneuver in difficult terrain, and overtime as needed
  • Highly motivated and hard working with strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Computer skills
